"Dance Hall Days was written after a rock'n'roll gig I played at a local seniors' home.
The music of the 50's & 60's always gets seniors' places jumping & I often get folks coming up at the end saying how much they loved the songs that had taken them back to their youth.
On this occasion, I had noticed a lady on crutches at the back of the room who had tears streaming down her face for most of the gig.
She came up to thank me for my performance & explained that she met her husband at a rock'n'roll dance in 1959 when she was 19. He had been a great dancer & was always showing the girls how to do the latest moves.
They soon fell in love & married & had three lovely daughters. Throughout their marriage they had always danced together at dance halls, on cruises & at home, but Alzheimer's had taken his life in his early 60's & she had been alone ever since.
So I wrote the song for Olivia. Even though I played at that venue every month for a year after, I never saw her again, so she never knew I'd written the song for her."

We are thrilled to have released our original song ‘LET’S SAY YES!’ as a single on Sept 24, 2023, in support of the Yes23 campaign.

‘SING FOR YES’ PROJECT
The song LET’S SAY YES! is the focal point for community project SING FOR YES, launched by us in late August 2023.
The project invites the general community to join the choir to lend their voice in support of The Voice to Parliament referendum.
“This is both literal and symbolic. It’s a very human way to show our support for The Voice and for constitutional recognition of Australia’s proud First Nations people,” Jay explains.
The first gathering of the SING FOR YES choir was on Sunday 3 Sept at Oxley Creek Common, in Meanjin/Brisbane.
About sixty people, most of whom had never met before, came together to learn the song in one hour and record a music-video in a green field on a hot Father’s Day morning. The energy was electric and so uplifting.
From as far as Sydney, Japan and the UK, those who could not attend joined the “virtual choir”, delivering their vocal recordings electronically to be added to the audio track.
The resulting LET’S SAY YES! music-video features a vibrant 90-voiced SING FOR YES choir backing us, filmed by Moorooka videographer Pascal Burger and crew.
Members of the choir have also accompanied us to sing LET’S SAY YES! at rallies and events, including the Brisbane Walk For Yes and Logan’s Red Bridge Walk.
Wherever we perform the song, we love seeing the crowd get involved. It’s very powerful. There’s a part for everyone in this song.
